Baroque & Porcelain on the Elbe River - Dresden - Meißen - Moritzburg

Take a dive into into Fairytale Germany

Dresden, the phoenix that arose literally from the ashes of the Second World War, is a beautiful baroque city situated on the Elbe river in Central Germany only 165 Km from Berlin. This spectacular city, formerly in the East was almost completetly obliterated in 1945. After 1989 the long process of restoring began. Today, Dresden shines in all its splendor and truly lives up to its name: The Florence of the Elbe.

Meißen is the charming and picturesque capital of Porcelain on the Elbe. This medieval city is situated stunningly in the Elbe vally with its castle and cathedral on a rising hill, and has produced European porcelain since 1708. It is a must.

Moritzburg is one of the most impressive baroque palaces in central Europe. Reached via a tree-lined avenue, it is situated on an island in the middle of a lake. The view is breathtaking. With its four massive round towers, the Elector August the Strong of Saxony realised his dream by building here his summer residence.

Day Trips- Rheinsberg & Neuruppin

Be swept away into the most exquisite countryside and one of the most beautiful and beautifully situated castles in Northern Germany. This jewel, located exquisitely on Lake Grienerick combines architecture, art and musik in a spectacular way. Given to Frederick the Great as a wedding present from his father in 1733, for 7 years it was home to the most lavish and extravagant baroque musical feasts and parties almost non-stop. We will walk around the grounds and see the palace from the inside as well as explore the city of Rheinsberg itself.

On the way back to Berlin, we will go through the old garrison town of Neuruppin. This town was used for military purposes in the 17th century and developed as a garrison town under Frederick the Greats father and then under Frederick himself. It is beautifully  located on Lake Ruppin. This town is very typical of old Prussia and has many architectural gems that are well worth getting to know.
